Look at this! Sherlock Holmes and the Ravenclaw Codex has been translated! And into Russian, no less! Translated by the very talented[info]dar_se_cuenta.

For the Russian speakers on my flist, here's the link: Шерлок Холмс и Кодекс Когтеврана

From what I've been able to understand of the reviews, the translator has kept a lot of the Victorian flavour to it - the hardest part of all. I wish I had the language skills to be able to read it...

ETA: This just in (from a Russian speaker) - the translation is "pretty genuis, actually". I'm really chuffed. Well done [profile] dar_se_cuenta

Wow!

Sherlock Holmes and the Ravenclaw Codex came joint runner-up in the Best Crossover category of the Quibbler Awards!

OK, some of the more decorated readers of this journal might sneer and consider this of no account, but personally I'm well chuffed.

Remember how I was all bursting with pride and glee about how Sherlock Holmes and the Ravenclaw Codex has been nominated for a Quibbler Award

Well, voting is now open, so if any of you - *hem hem!* - feel like wandering over and lending me your support, how happy that would make me. You have to read the rules and find a word to enter at the end of them, but the process seems pretty straightforward.

Voting is open until the 20th.

*makes best stab at puppy eyes* (probably not very good - I'm dreadful at begging for approval)

Wow! Sherlock Holmes and the Ravenclaw Codex has been nominated for a Forbidden Award! For a Hogwarts Swingers Award, to be precise! (don't worry, that's just the [livejournal.com profile] forbiddenawards  special name for Harry Potter crossover fics)

There's no way I'll get this one because I'm up against [livejournal.com profile] sam_storyteller among other eminent people... but it's the thought that counts. And I'm very appreciative of this - thanks to whoever nominated me, if you're reading. *simpers and blushes*

OMG Sherlock Holmes and the Ravenclaw Codex has been nominated for a Quibbler Award!

I know I'm not going to win, because I have very few readers, keep my head down and don't ship - but all the same... I've never been up for an award, and it's really exciting. I came over quite Gwynneth Paltrow for a few moments back there.

In the meantime, in case you think fame is going to my head, here's a link about a brave householder who thwarted a burglar, dressed as the Norse god Thor.

Ask, and you will receive...

This will hopefully be a three-parter, set in London and Devonshire.

In which Holmes and Watson are visited by an oddly dressed young man, concerned for his sister.

A Poll!

I'm plotting various sequels to Sherlock Holmes and the Ravenclaw Codex in my head, but can't decide which to play with first. So I have tried to creat a poll on the subject. Let's just hope you can read it - LJ isn't being terribly cooperative today! Cut for length )

... which means that the unthinkable has happened: it's finished!

Chapters 1-13 can be found here.

In which Holmes and Watson discuss one or two remaining questions on the train South

dolorous_ett: (Sherlock Holmes)
Almost there! Just the epilogue to go now. I'll try and get it finished before Christmas.

Chapters 1-12 may be found here.

In which Professor O'Connell speaks of motives and realpolitik, and our friends set out on their journey home.

Apologies for the delayed update - life has not given me any space for my own writing. I hope this makes up for the delay.

For any readers who have forgotten what happened in the other eleven chapters, Chapters 1 - 11 may be found here.

In which a vile scheme is laid bare

My timing's terrible: a lot of people will have gone off on their Bank Holiday trips! Never mind. What with one thing and another in RL, an earlier update was out of the question.

In which Watson eats an uncomfortable meal, and the true villain of the piece is unmasked.

Chapters 1-10 can be found here.
dolorous_ett: (Sherlock Holmes)

This update comes later than expected, and after I pruned out quite a lot of backstory about members of the Hogwarts Irregulars. Unfortunately, this meant that a lot of the wonderful London place-names I solicited last week never got a look-in - I'm very grateful, nonetheless.

There are two (perhaps three) more chapters to go, plus an epilogue.

In which Holmes and Watson learn the true whereabouts of the Codex, and much - but not all - is made clear.

Disclaimer: As in all good Victorian novels, this chapter includes a small, pious moral lesson. This is in no way intended to disparage those of any other faith or demonination, or none. Don't assume anything about my religious beliefs from this either, please.

Chapters 1-9 can be found here.

This isn't an update, merely a list of all the chapters I have written so far, so that I don't have to clog up future Ravenclaw Codex  updates with increasinly unwieldy lists of links to every single chapter of The Story So Far.

Although I should really be finishing other stuff, this was so nearly ready it seemed a shame not to post it now. I solemnly swear, however, that there will be no more Holmes until my

This chapter is a slight misnomer - most of the revelations actually occur in Chapter 4. I just thought it would be fun to keep you guessing a little longer about some of the details...
