I just had to post a link to this Korean children's song which appears, on the face of it, to be about singing, dancing carrots that are in love. Though it's hard to say, not knowing any Korean and all.

For some reason that I find hard to explain, this silly song pleased me enormously, so I'm posting the link so you can enjoy it too. But please note - this is a song, and a silly one too, so although it's completely worksafe in the sense of not being rude, you might want to think twice before listening to this if you work in an open-plan office.

And so, without further ado, let me present...

The Song of Carrots!

That's really quite... I think the word I'm looking for is 'extraordinary'.

The bit with the plate is quite traumatic, though. I may never eat carrots with an easy mind again!

Well, at least it ends on a happy note...

Hope you're not too traumatised!

Have you seen Serenity? I'm thinking of the fruity oaty bars.

I don't understand why they cry, these carrots. Is it because they are lonely on the plate before we eat them? Oh, carrots, don't cry!

Cheer up, emo carrot!

I've yet to see Serenity - I've got the Firefly series and everyone says it's best if you see those first. Trouble is, it's taking me a while...

I was wondering if the carrots were crying because they weren't welcome on the plate and it was a song about healthy eating. But really, who can say? On the plus side, they seem to be cheerful again by the end of the song...

I'm so going to have to download this when I get home. I have a bunch of Korean pop songs that I can't understand either, and this needs to be added to that. Massive misunderstanding + catchy tunes = win!

After all, carrots are great great veggies. Piggs agree.

That's really all that's needed to complete that video - dancing piggs!

Glad you enjoyed it!

I was trying to watch it but it apparently does not like my browser. Sigh. No choral carrots.

The picture on this isn't quite as good, but here's the link to the YouTube version of the Carrot Song. And now, thanks to the ropy subtitling that peters out halfway through, I now realise that the random cries of "Carrot!" that puzzled me so much do have a purpose...

I have to agree with [livejournal.com profile] tree_and_leaf -- the bit with the plate is mildly traumatic, especially when the carrots start crying and looking round in panic. I half-expected a fork to appear!

The first time I saw that I thought they were lonely, because they cheered up when there were two carrots. I assumed it was an educational song to encourage children to eat up their vegetables - though in some ways that could still be quite traumatic...

PS One of the things I got while googling "Korean Carrot Song" was the following:

Congressional Record

To divert the administration from taking punitive measures in response to North Korea's violations of the NPT, Kim Il-song has raised, then withdrawn his stick, masking his forbearance in the disguise of a carrot. ...

Yes, I know. I should get out more.
