I'm in the middle of a stressful week at work, and the one thing that would really bring a bit of respite to my aching brain would be some truly whackjob conspiracy theories.

I'm open to anything - any fandom, politics, religion, science, space aliens, any sphere of real life all... my only request is that it has to be completely loopy. I need reassurance that there are crazier lives even than mine!

That 'JKR is responsible for forced abortions in China' rumour is a pretty fun one. I'll have to dredge it up for you.

What, seriously?

Given my job, I could have a lot of fun shredding that one!

Here it is, in its long-winded, batshitty glory:

*shuffles off, to weep for humanity*

Really, batshit doesn't come close.

You're another fan of Robyn, too?? "I've got all your albums." And he has a lot of them. Especially if you count the Soft Boys ones as well.

As for wackiness, you know about fafblog (http://fafblog.blogspot.com/), right?

I am, though not as much of a one as you. I only have "I Often Dream of Trains" - but I love it to bits.

I didn't know about Fafblog. Well, I never did. What a world, eh...

Anything Luna Lovegood says. I think the last I saw was that the aurors had been destablizing the minstry from the inside, attacking them with gum disease - the Rotfang conspiracy. No idea where. ;D

Thanks. My personal favourite is Cornelius Fudge baking goblins in a pie...

Can't really help much with up-to-date ones (unless you count the theories on Bush's picks for the Supreme Court) but selfpluggily this HPised thingy might amuse? It may well indicate I'm crazy. :)

I've heard good things about this - promise to drop in and read/review properly when things are slightly less fraught...

Hey, no rush ... I just mentioned it as the only vaguely relevant thing I had to say. :)

Ah, the end of the week...hurrah!

This site has changed its format since I'd last been there, but it is an excellent source for debunking all sorts of urban myths and theories. And you may have already heard of it: http://www.snopes.com/

I have used it primarily because of people at work liking to send around giant emails with supposed events that are going to happen, that do a good job of sounding plausible on the surface. Nobody ever checks to see if it was a hoax, though...but I do. *grin*

Ah, a hoax and urban myth debunker - I liked you anyway, but I like you all the more for this. It annoys me that so many people seem to want to be so credulous...

I'm very fond of the Bad Astronomy site, personally - it can be found at www.badastronomy.com (if you're not already familiar with it) and is full of very amusing debunking of stupid astronomical crank "theories" such as Planet X.

Ooh, I hadn't heard of that site, thanks muchly. I am such a skeptic it hurts even me sometimes. Well, not really. Just other people.
Even the title gave me a plot bunny (down, boy!)
