MP3 players?

My beloved MP3 player went belly-up last night, and I have realised that working through mindless paperwork with nothing to listen to is going to be completely unbearable. 

So can anyone recommend a good, mid-price MP3 player? I don't need anything fancy - just something that will hold all my music.

Any comments much appreciated. 

ETA: ... and I missed lunch to go to an electronics shop for a replacement - in the course of which I got the old player out, and to cut a long story short, the battery was flat, but the jam that had rendered it unworkable had unjammed itself, and it seemed willing to play again. Was tempted by a flash new player, but prudence and sentiment prevailed. I went back to the office, recharged Old Faithful, and it's working as sweetly as the day I first got it.

I'm ever so relieved - this player was a wedding gift from Q, and I would have been so upset to lose it before its time.

I did try pretty hard to fix it - and Q, who is far better with gadgets, also tried and gave up. The display screen appeared to be permanently off, so it was impossible to see what parts of it worked and what didn't.

Still - quite a relief. Next time I'll check twice, to save myself the grief!

Interesting... the man in the shop recommended Sony as well. Two of you in one day can't be wrong - although my Meizu player seems as good as new and I'm happy to keep using it till it crumbles to dust...

It's illogical how pleased I am about it - I was absolutely gutted at the thought of no music to listen to. Plainly addiction is setting in.

(at least I get lots of chances to use my iSnitch icon...)
