In a rather hopeless effort to prove that I am not always a terminally grumpy old sourpuss who angsts about everything, I've stolen the Character Love Meme from lyras.

Name a character from one of my fandoms, and I will write no more than 100 words on why I love them.

So - name your characters! Fandoms: Harry Potter, A Song of Ice and Fire, Star Trek: Next Generation, Star Trek: Enterprise, Robin Hobb's Farseer and Golden Fool series, Alastair Reynolds's Revelation Space quartet, (a lot of, but not all) Terry Pratchett, Lord of the Rings, Mina de Malfois.

No reasonable (or unreasonable) offer refused...

Stan is the Man. Without a doubt.

He has a strangely enjoyable accent and a cool job - he probably gets to see more of the country than anyone else in the Wizarding world except Ernie. And he's never afraid to ask the really obvious questions - consider how much more pleasant Harry's life would be now if he'd just gone ahead and asked things instead of sulking!

And now he is a Political Prisoner. When the pendulum swings the other way he'll be in a very strong position - who knows, he might become someone very big indeed in the Ministry...

This is just canon!Stan of course. My fanon!Stan will appear in my Blaise Zabini fic (which I do mean to finish one of these days - really!) - and when Blaise comes back from America having completely avoid the war, all the beautiful girls in the Leaky Cauldron ignore him completely for Dashing War Hero!Stan who saved thousands through acts of courage on the Knight Bus...
