Very interesting as always -- the speech from O’Connell (even if he is Irish :D) is somehow very much in the old tradition of British political history of what AJP Taylor called 'genuine compromises', and also has echoes of Holmes at the end of 'His Last Bow'! Looking forward to seeing what Weaselby has to say about Marchmont ...
